Kevin Hrabak is an Austin-based jazz trombonist and vocalist currently on track to completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Originally from El Paso, TX — Kevin moved to Austin with the intention of pursuing a career within the music realm.
During Hrabak’s short time in Austin, he was quickly recognized as one of Austin’s young rising stars and has taken the positions of bandleader, performer, and sideman while also pursuing an active career as an artist manager. Hrabak has taken the stage in countless venue’s across the Live Music Capitol of the World and has been compared to the great jazz vocalists of our time such as Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme, and Micheal Buble.
With a sound that has become more and more familiar throughout Austin’s music scene, Hrabak posses’ a warm and welcoming tone on the trombone that takes inspiration from the masters like J.J. Johnson, Curtis Fuller, Carl Fontana, and Slide Hampton.
This past year alone, Hrabak has had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of the world’s finest musicians such as: Marshall Gilkes, Mathis Picard, Mike Sailors, Andre Hayward, Danny Jonokuchi, Daniel Foose, Gerry Gibbs, Benny Bennack III, Steven Feifke, Roxy Coss, Bryan Carter, and Christian Wiggs.
While playing will always be the forefront of Hrabak’s drive and motivation, he has also taken on a position within an Austin // New York based arts organization Bandstand Presents as an artist manager — currently representing trombonists Altin Sencalar and Marshall Gilkes. He is also working under Emmet Cohen’s management team as Cohen’s advancing and logistics coordinator.
